We are looking for candidates with STEM interest to assist in our hands-on afterschool and holidays programs. We need someone with great communication skills and initiative. Prior tutoring experience, leadership or youth work preferred. Candidates enthusiastic about DIY projects, science fairs, maker culture and tinkering a plus.

You will work alongside a senior instructor to set-up and take down the class, actively engage with the students and help them with their projects, help document learning and contribute in designing and modifying class activities and content.

STEM Instructor

JOB DETAILS

  • Location: East Auckland

  • Job Type: Fixed Term during July School Holidays with opportunities for further engagement. 

​

This is a fixed term employment opportunity to lead a Young Engineers Workshop program delivering high quality learning experiences. We need you during the July School Holidays with opportunities to lead other programs which may occur after-school times, Saturdays or weekdays during school holidays. 

​

Job Duties

  • Organize and lead class activities in workshops.

  • Prepare, set up and pack up class materials.

  • Document learning and take photos.

  • Look after the well being of students.

  • Participate in designing and modifying class activities and content.

Requirements

  • Education and or experience in a STEM field.

  • Ability to run a class independently, problem solve and improvise.

  • Responsible and reliable with an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Projects an enthusiastic and encouraging attitude.

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.

  • First aid certificate holder preferred.

  • Willing to undergo police vetting.

  • Mandarin proficiency a plus but not required.
